The project has now started !

ESA World Ocean Circulation project has formally been started, with the kick-off virtual meeting held in june 2020.
The WOC project will last 2 years.  The main objective is to enhance the understanding, the monitoring and the phasing forecast of upper ocean currents, with a particular focus on the most intense ocean small-scale structures.
The first year dedicated to the algorithm development and the production of one year of demonstration products for each Theme of the project that are recalled below:

  • Theme 1: Sea-state current interactions for Safe Navigation
  • Theme 2: 3D currents and vertical motion for Sustainable Fisheries
  • Theme 3: Surface Lagrangian drift for a Clean Ocean
  • Theme 4: HR wave and current model assessment for a Productive Ocean
